It has been a very busy time at Cambridge Bowl Company. Winter, and in particular Winter Break, usually is the busiest time for the grounds crews and landscaping companies around Harvard's campus. This year, a few trees came down and I was lucky enough to get the wood. The three big wood sources are some beautiful sugar maples, a Princeton Elm, and an ash tree. All three of these wood sources are from around Harvard Yard.
In the end it was probably enough to make about 120 bowls. Lots of turning for a week! Once these bowls take a few months to air dry I can finish turn them and add them to the collection. I also slabbed a few blanks and should start working on the wood prints as well.
